melancholy
all of a sudden i realized (once again) that life changes super extra fast. just a mere 3 years ago i was sitting at a desk, (make that a table), designing something for a marketing company at IXEstudio, awaiting my fate to see if i would be able to go to vancouver to continue my studies.
these last 3 years have brought months of agony over student loans, 15 months in Vancouver, one demo reel, 5 weeks back in Tijuana (3 of them all depressed because i didn't know what i was gonna do for work and payments), almost 14 months in Mexico City, a Hollywood film, two mexican films, a tv series, 2 commercials, an Academy Award team member, and 5 different places i've lived. I've met and worked with people from all over the globe... from Russia and Hong Kong, to France and Germany, Peru and Brazil, Spain, Iceland, Jordan, India, Trinidad, Canada, USA & Australia. Damn, those are lots of places... but there's more i want to explore.
I've been thinking lately... I've done pretty good, it's taken a while, but my professional goals have been moving forward. I remember back in junior high thinking... one day i'll work in movies! forward to 2009, and here i am. credited in a David Fincher/Brad Pitt movie. but that's not the peak of where i wanna be, i've barely started! Most international immigration laws require at least 2 years experience in the field of work you wanna go to in order to give you work permits and all that. well, i have 1 year and a month on me. almost there... i'd love to move on after here to bigger and better places now, go to the States, return to Canada would be awesome, or have the chance to work at Weta Digital in New Zealand! wow! Though I still feel that my ultimate goal is to settle (when i'm good and ready) somewhere around the southern California area, that's just me.
so we'll see where i end up in the near future, for now i'm working on enjoying to the max my experience here in the great capital city of my country, where i defenitely don't want to stay, and then look ahead to the great future that beholds me.
